The governor of Tartous, Abdul Halim Awad Khalil, stressed the importance of improving the general reality of the Arida border post, to provide the best services to travelers.

During a statement to reporters after a briefing tour of the center's departments, the governor indicated that some issues were dealt with directly, and a plan was drawn up to study other issues and deal with them with the concerned government agencies.

In turn, the director of the center, Hassan Barhoum, pointed out in a similar statement to the importance of what was raised during the governor's meeting with the center's cadres to advance his work, indicating that there are many projects and issues that were raised today that need to be followed up with an adjustment of price differences to work with.

During the meeting, the demands and proposals of the center’s cadres focused on improving the status of the road leading to it and its squares, addressing the reality of the immigration and passport building, and establishing a citizen service center to provide the necessary services to passers-by and benefit from alternative energies.

For his part, Issa Hamdan, Director of the Public Corporation for Drinking Water, explained during the meeting that the water situation in the center is linked to the issue of rationing electricity, in addition to the salinity of the water as a result of the proximity to the sea.

The Director of Technical Services, Ahmed Suleiman, pointed out that a list of studies has been prepared to implement some service matters in the center, such as squares, courtyards, and others, with the rehabilitation of some of its private facilities.

The Director of Health, Dr. Ahmed Ammar, also indicated that the quarantine center located in the center will be provided with three prefabricated rooms equipped with all health services, along with an ambulance, and converting it into an integrated health center, to provide the health care that travelers need.

Director of Communications Badih Wanous indicated that the reality of fixed-line communications is good, in addition to being served by Internet portals, but they are linked to the electrical supply.

The meeting was attended by the governorate's police chief, Brigadier General Wafiq Abu Dallah, the governorate's secretary-general, Haider Merhej, directors of service institutions in the governorate, and staff working in the center.
