Today, the technical workshops of the Directorate of Road Transportation, Lattakia Branch, carried out maintenance for expansion joints on the Tartous Highway towards Lattakia before the Hmeimim Bridge.
The Director of Road Transportation, Eng. Musab Ahmed, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the maintenance today was an emergency solution to replace the damaged pieces in the expansion joints of the bridges on the highway, indicating that these joints are tasked with preventing distortions in the bridges, as a result of the temperature differences of the weather and traffic accidents.
He pointed out that efforts were made to open the road, as the presence of the vandal piece was in the middle of the road, which led to the closure of the left and middle lanes, and affected the movement of vehicles on the highway.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Transport had issued warnings today to drivers, to exercise caution and pay attention and adhere to the signals set, with the need to limit speed and follow the temporary traffic diversions pending the completion of maintenance work.
