Pyongyang: Washington spreads rumors to divert attention from its arms shipments to Kiev

The DPRK affirmed that the US allegations regarding arms deals between Pyongyang and Russia are baseless, aiming to justify US arms shipments to the Ukrainian regime.

"The United States has once again launched a baseless rumor about arms deals between the DPRK and Russia in a foolish attempt," KCNA quoted Kwon Jong-gun, director general of the US Affairs Department at the DPRK's Foreign Ministry, as saying in a statement published today. To justify sending weapons to Ukraine,” she said, adding, “Bringing up for discussion the issue of the right of sovereign states to national defense is an illegal act by Washington.

Kwon continued: “Attempting to tarnish the image of the DPRK by fabricating non-existent matters is a serious provocation, which can never be tolerated and will only prompt a response from us, and we on this occasion clearly warn the United States once again to pay attention to it.” She will face undesirable results if she persists in spreading her own fabricated rumors against Pyongyang.”

Commenting on a White House National Security Council spokesman saying that Washington will continue to supply weapons to Kyiv “to defend itself against Russia,” Kwon said: “This statement carries a ridiculous fallacy, and is an extension of Washington’s illogical, distorted, gangster-like thinking style. Numerous means and equipment for nuclear strikes have been introduced to the Korean Peninsula several times under the pretext of "deterrence in the face of someone's provocations".

The DPRK official continued, "If the United States had not violated Russia's just security interests and escalated the advance of NATO forces step by step in the eastern direction, the current situation in Ukraine would not have arisen."

He pointed out that Washington is working diligently to provide Kyiv with offensive weapons at any cost, ignoring justified concern and criticism from the international community, describing it as an immoral crime aimed at creating continuous instability in the world.
