On video: Iran: drone attack on a weapons factory in the center of the country, no casualties (Twitter)
Israel is responsible for the drone attack carried out yesterday against a weapons factory in Iran - this is what American and other officials told the Wall Street Journal today (Sunday).
Iran's Ministry of Defense claimed that it foiled the attack carried out by three small drones.
According to her, one of them was knocked down and two of them only hit the roof and caused minor damage.
However, footage from the scene showed an intense flash at the site and rescue vehicles and fire engines arriving from outside.
Iran has not yet said who is responsible for the attack, but in recent years Israel has been credited with a series of covert operations against nuclear and military sites in the country, including using suicide drones - one of them at a centrifuge factory in Karaj in June 2021 and another at a security facility in Perchin last May.
If indeed it was Israel tonight, this would be its first known action against Iran since the change of government.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the attack on the facility in Isfahan - near the center of Iran's space agency, which is under US sanctions for its part in the development of its missile program - occurred against the background of talks between Jerusalem and Washington on curbing Tehran's nuclear and military ambitions, including its cooperation with Russia.
