Following the measures against the Public Broadcasting Corporation, the Organization of Journalists and Journalists is holding an emergency conference today (Sunday) in Tel Aviv to protest the program.
"We are dealing with a difficult market and there are excellent commercial channels in front of us," said journalist Yoav Krakowski, "competition for the viewer is tough, but our job is to invest in the viewer. We enjoy reflecting Israeli society in all its nuances, and we thank our friends in the commercial channels and the written press for standing by by our side".
News 12 CEO Avi Weiss said today at the gathering that it is important to preserve public broadcasting precisely because politicians cannot control it. He emphasized that the only bosses of journalists are the public and that despite the competition here, he expresses solidarity with the people of the corporation. He also expressed serious concern The News 13 team last night while broadcasting from Jerusalem after the attacks in the capital.
"The planned measures will severely damage the ability to produce a free press here, the cultural renaissance created here, and the livelihood of thousands of employees, salaried and self-employed, whose livelihood depends - directly and indirectly - on the corporation," the organizations of journalists and media workers said.
The conference is being held at the Brodt Center for Jewish Culture in Tel Aviv in order to express solidarity with the journalists of the Public Broadcasting Corporation to protest the program and formulate methods of action for the struggle.
