Today, the Minister of Water Resources, Dr. Tammam Raad, discussed with the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Syria, Angela Kearney, areas of cooperation between the ministry and the organization, and plans of action for the current year.
Minister Raad stressed the importance of cooperation to implement joint programs related to supporting the water sector in Syria, noting that the ministry is working on an integrated strategy to promote the drinking water, sanitation and irrigation sectors, and rehabilitate those that were damaged by terrorist acts.
And Raad indicated that work is underway to strengthen all services provided to citizens, and to all regions without exception, especially in light of the negative circumstances and effects resulting from the unilateral Western measures imposed on the Syrian people, and their direct impact on citizens.
For her part, Kearney stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination to support early recovery and the advancement of the infrastructure of the water sector in Syria, pointing to the need for continuous communication to achieve the greatest benefit for the Syrian people.
