Thousands of students across the country are demonstrating today (Sunday) against the planned legal revolution.

In Tel Aviv, thousands marched on Rothschild Boulevard, carrying signs reading "Not in our school" and "Students for democracy" and chanting "Jews and Arabs refuse to be enemies."

The event is an initiative of Municipal School D in the city.

"The students want to represent a value position, not a political one - democracy is important! Individual rights are important! And they will demonstrate their position with a loud voice, in the heart of the first Hebrew city," said school principal Uri Les.

The title of the march is "in favor of substantive democracy, in favor of individual rights and the rights of the minority", this after it was changed and the words "against the tyranny of the majority" were removed following a letter from the director general of the Ministry of Education Assaf Tselal. At the same time, the "student protest" organized by the Yesh Atid party is being held. According to them , among the main centers of the protests are Katznelson High School in Kfar Saba, near

Raya, Tahal, Khalilo and Nigist, 8th grade students at the Open Democratic School in Jaffa, said that they came "to protest our rights to freedom and expression, for equality."

They continued, "We are afraid, little by little, the government will destroy the country we love. We hope to make a change, that they will see that the students also have a voice in this. We may not have the opportunity to vote in the elections, but we have the opportunity to express an opinion," they said.

Abir, a 12th grade student in Rosh Ha'Ain, joined the demonstration. "Democracy is being abolished," he said. "A prime minister who is accused of crimes is trying to appoint judges to judge him.

As soon as a person allows himself to do that, it means a lot, and other Knesset members will follow him and the situation will deteriorate," he continued. "We live in this country and we are its future.

The fact that even at our age they understand the problem says a lot."

Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai spoke to the students.

"I am proud of you and happy that even though you could go home you are here," he told them.

"It's not a demonstration, it's not something against it, it's students in favor of democracy and the state. Students who understand that when playing football, the referees cannot be chosen by fans of one team, that democracy is taking care of human rights. As mayor, I'm proud of her students."

On the other hand, a demonstration of students supporting Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is being held in the Bhima square.

One boy is holding a Likud sign, and another one with the inscription "Jewish blood is not a stray" on one side and the picture of the Prime Minister on the other.

"Not only leftists are allowed to demonstrate, so are we," said a student at the Herzliya Hebrew High School.
