Residents in Samaria had to wait for hours and hours at checkpoints, which were set up to prevent demonstrations by Israelis, in order to get to their homes. and children who were stuck for hours"

For many months in the Samaria region, a silent battle has been going on between Palestinians and Israelis.

Some are throwing stones, some are returning fire, and the IDF is standing in the middle, struggling to find ways to deal with the situation. Such an incident occurred a few months ago in front of the residents of the area and led to a confrontation with the paratroopers, which ended with gas being sprayed in his eyes.

However, recently the IDF began to operate in a practice that greatly angers the residents of the area, normal people who, on the whole, want to get to their homes at the end of the work day. Time and time again, military forces close the road to the movement of thousands of civilians, both Israelis and Palestinians, and prevent them from passing, this is due to a conflict that is taking place in the area, mainly in the village of Hawara, because of a demonstration of several dozen people.

Talia Gadot, a resident of the settlement of Kedumim, was stuck outside her home for two days because of the army blockades, and in a conversation with "Israel Today" she states that she felt insulted by the conduct of the Judea and Samaria Division in managing the traffic axes since the beginning of Shabbat.

"I planned to return home from Shabbat to my aunt in Binyamin, but we had already received reports of army blockades in Hawara. A long convoy of Jews was blocked inside this hostile village by a brigade checkpoint without being secured. I stayed to sleep in Binyamin and the next morning I went directly to school. In the evening I caught a ride that was It was supposed to go directly to the ancients, but once again the brigade blocked the Yitzhar intersection as a collective punishment against Jews because of residents who are protesting."

She also said: "There were families there with babies and children who were stuck for hours and people like my hitchhiker who simply gave up and turned around. I had to get off at the intersection and go up to my uncle's house in Itzhar and wait there. Only late at night after not being home for two days and after they also opened the roadblock near Kedumim, a resident of the settlement Asfa me and I arrived home exhausted. I don't understand why the one who is supposed to protect me shows such a hostile attitude towards me?"

Other residents say that the fighters who stood at the checkpoints told them unequivocally that this was a collective punishment.

"A fighter told me to ask my friends why we are blocking the road," said one.

A second resident noted that "it doesn't matter if we are for or against the protests, this is not a reason to close major roads."

The IDF spokesperson confirmed that they closed the roads, but claimed that these were for short periods of time in order to restore order to the area, this is contrary to the residents who reported that it took hours and hours. Protecting the lives of the residents and their safety, and in order to prevent friction in the area, barriers are erected for short periods of time, according to the assessment of the situation and operational considerations.

When barriers are erected, entry is prohibited to Palestinian citizens and Israeli citizens who are in the area and entry is allowed only to the security forces."
