Koshrut Tzahar in a pointed appeal to the High Court: "We need to increase imports instead of maintaining and maintaining a monopoly" • They claim: "The rabbinate's decision to disqualify us from serving kosher abroad contributes significantly to the cost of living"

Bezhar starts a war against the government: Koshert Bezhar appealed to the High Court demanding that they compel the Chief Rabbinate to explain why it does not allow it to provide a kosher certificate for imported products.

They accuse that by preventing Mezhar from importing products, the government is seriously harming the fight against the cost of living, and threaten a constitutional petition if the kosher reform is canceled.

For many months now a petition has been pending in the High Court, which was submitted about two years ago, against the Chief Rabbinate's decision not to recognize Zohar Kosher as providing kosher certificates for imported products, even though the rest of the private kosher bodies were recognized as providers of kosher for these products.

In response to the High Court on the issue, the Chief Rabbinate claimed that the kosher reform would provide the solution and make it redundant. According to them, since Tzahar will receive a license to issue kosher certificates, it will not need permission from the Chief Rabbinate Council at all.

Avoid the petition?

Now, following the coalition agreements and the government's declarations that it intends to cancel the kosher reform, in which Zahar kosher and applied to the High Court of Justice to provide a conditional order against the decisions of the rabbinate in the case of Zahar, this after the three months had passed in which the High Court allowed the Chief Rabbinate to reply on this matter.

Betzhar claims that the conduct of the Chief Rabbinate amounts to an attempt to evade the petition, and demand that the High Court compel them to provide a clear answer as to why they are not allowed to provide kosher certificates for imported products.

"It is already clear that the attempt to hand over the authority to grant kosher certificates to private kosher bodies instead of or in addition to the kosher system of the Chief Rabbinate - has not been successful," wrote Bezhar to the High Court judges.

At the same time, in the afternoon they start a frontal war against the Shas and accuse the government of contributing to the cost of living in Israel with its own hands.

At Zohar Kosher they note from a report published by the Kohalat Forum: "Only 93 rabbis in 35 countries abroad are recognized by the Chief Rabbinate for issuing a kosher certificate."

The members of the Bezhar Kashrut system claim, "The rabbinate's decision to disqualify them from giving kosher abroad and to increase the products for import contributes significantly to the cost of living in Israel."
