Eleven people were killed in a road accident in Ondo state, southwestern Nigeria.
The state's road safety official was quoted by media as saying, "The 11 victims were burnt to death as the vehicles caught fire following a traffic accident on a highway in Odigbo district of Ondo state."
The Nigerian government official indicated that the accident occurred due to excessive speed.
Fatal road accidents are common in Nigeria, often caused by overloading, poor road conditions and reckless drivers at the same time.
