6 male sexual myths that are still valid

2023-01-30T10:58:50.129Z

From G-spot to penile fracture. What are the main myths and why we must eradicate them.

Sperm

tastes

better if you drink a lot of pineapple juice.

This is one of the most repeated myths, although there is some truth to it: diet influences the taste of ejaculation.

However, there are too many myths surrounding the sexual life of men that are far from the truth.

Erections, G-spot, sperm accumulation and more are among the most common myths.

To eradicate them, the sexologist Sergio Fosela and Arcwave, a brand of pleasure for men, produced a report that shows why these theories are false.

These are the six most prominent myths:

1- There is no erection without arousal

Being aroused is not enough for an erection, relaxation is needed.

Lack of erection is still considered a sign of lack of desire.

But Fosela explained that this is not entirely true.

"An erection varies a lot from person to person, but it also depends a lot on the situation and age. The younger the man, the faster the erection occurs. Stress, tiredness and worries can also be factors that condition the lack of erection".

“Being excited is not enough.

Relaxation

is needed

and if we are nervous during sexual intercourse, no matter how excited we are and how much desire we have, the erection will not occur.

Getting enough rest and following a healthy diet can help a lot, but above all, clear communication with your partner about your concerns, desires, and expectations can help prevent erectile dysfunction.

It can also happen the other way around, where men get an erection without being sexually aroused.

"Sometimes a casual touch is enough, or even paradoxical erections occur during

stress or anxiety

. Erections also occur regularly at night, in some phases of sleep, without necessarily being erotic. Basically, the penis activates a 'self-maintenance' (to nourish the tissues), and if this phase coincides with the moment of waking up, that is when the famous morning erection appears," explained the sexologist.

2- Men do not have a G-spot

Yes, the man has a G-spot: the prostate.

Yes, the man has a G-spot: the prostate.

Fosela described the prostate as "the male equivalent of the female G-spot."

However, according to a worldwide study by Arcwave, more than a third of respondents worldwide are unaware that the prostate is an

erogenous zone

.

Another 33% of the men were aware of it, but have not experienced or attempted any stimulation in the area.

The prostate can be stimulated through the anus or more subtly from the outside, through the perineum.

3- Sperm congestion generates pain

Semen cannot accumulate.

When men don't have sex or don't masturbate it can hurt a lot, because there is a risk of semen accumulating, at least that's the rumor.

However, this myth is absolutely false, because semen cannot accumulate.

The human body is perfectly prepared and breaks down the ejaculate or eliminates it in the urine.

In addition, it is not "unloading" that can cause pain, but the pelvic-genital vasocongestion produced by unresolved arousal.

The sexologist pointed out that "spontaneous discharges can occur at night if you have not ejaculated for a long time. Although there is no major problem if this occurs, it is natural."

4- Vasectomy affects sexual life

Vasectomy does not affect erection, orgasm, ejaculation, or libido.

Many men continue to worry that a

vasectomy

could negatively affect their sex life.

However, according to Fosela, these concerns are unfounded, because "

vasectomy does not influence erection, orgasm, ejaculation or libido

. There is even a positive influence since sex becomes much more relaxed, since contraception against pregnancies is 100% guaranteed.

Vasectomy is a permanent (sometimes reversible) method of birth control for men in which the vas deferens are cut, preventing sperm from reaching the ejaculate.

The body then breaks down the produced sperm.

5- The heat can generate impotence

The heat promotes blood circulation and is quite good for the erection.

Heated car seats or overly hot baths and showers cause impotence: This myth still persists today and is mainly because "impotence" continues to be misunderstood.

Impotence means erectile dysfunction, that is, an erection does not occur or does not last long enough for penetrative intercourse.

"The heat promotes blood circulation and is actually quite good for the erection," said the Arcwave expert.

However, the myth is not entirely far-fetched, as heat has

negative effects on sperm quality

, both in terms of count and quality.

6- The penis can break

The penis cannot be fractured, but it can tear the erectile tissue.

A fracture occurs in a bone.

Since the penis has no bone, one might think that this myth cannot be true at all.

However, the sexologist revealed that

the penis can break

.

This is more likely to be a tear of the erectile tissue than a classic rupture.

"It doesn't matter what word we use to define it, the whole thing is not pleasant. If it happens, it can happen when you slip during sex or in a sudden movement, the penis looks like an eggplant and you have to go to the hospital immediately," he recommended.
