Four buses were set on fire tonight (Monday) in the Galilee.

At the end of a night chase, two arson suspects were arrested.

The two, residents of Rama aged 20 and 21, were brought in for questioning and during the day the police will request the extension of their detention at the Acre Magistrate's Court.



Tonight around 3:00, several reports were received of buses being set on fire in Deir Hana and Salma.

North District police officers were able to identify the suspects' vehicle driving near the village of Rama, and jumped in a car to chase it.

The suspects got out of the vehicle and began to flee on foot, the police chased them and arrested them after shooting in the air.

The suspects' car was seized, with findings linking them to the incident.

The commander of the northern district expressed his appreciation for the police officers, who "work creatively and wisely against the 'protection' phenomenon, both on the intelligence level and in the deployment of forces and the operation of our means of control to provide an immediate response", he said.

"It's a difference of seconds between success and failure, between capturing the suspects in their vehicle or near it, and finding a burned vehicle in the field after the suspects have already fled."



About six months ago, 11 young men were arrested on suspicion of setting fire to buses in the Galilee.

According to the suspicion, three suspects, young men from Tuba Zangaria, operated under the auspices of a criminal organization that extorts sponsorship fees from businesses in the north under the guise of guarding activities.
