The appointments to the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSM), whose current mandate has just ended, are making teeth cringe in the judicial landerneau.

The names of candidates put forward by the President of the Republic and the President of the National Assembly give a big push to the left within the institution which appoints, promotes and sanctions magistrates.

Regularly accused of politicization and self-interest, the judiciary still risks, with these appointments, fueling all suspicions.

The Head of State notably chose Élisabeth Guigou, former Minister of Justice under the Jospin government.

For his part, Yaël Braun-Pivet opted for Diane Roman, professor of public law at the Sorbonne.

Close to La France insoumise, the latter signed a platform against the separatism law during the last five-year term.

Within the Institute of Legal and Philosophical Sciences of the Sorbonne, she is also in charge of the “gender and normativity” axis…
