(CNN) --

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro applied for a six-month tourist visa to stay in the United States, the AG Immigration law firm, which represents him, confirmed to CNN Brazil on Monday.

AG Immigration said that the application was filed on Friday, January 27, CNN Brazil reported.

In early January, the US State Department refused to confirm Bolsonaro's visa status due to confidentiality.

On January 13, the Brazilian Supreme Court accepted a request from the prosecutor's office for Bolsonaro to be investigated for his alleged involvement in the January 8 attacks in Brasilia.

The Government of the Federal District says that there will be reinforcements.

And the forces at our disposal are working.

I am at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice," the minister of that portfolio, Flavio Dino, said on Twitter.
