The Directorate of Culture, the Arab Cultural Center and the Directorate of Endowments in Tartous, in cooperation with the Bar Association branch, held a symposium entitled “Domestic Violence”.

An explanatory film was shown that dealt with the method of dialogue, the way the mother deals with her children in the event of a mistake, and how to deal with it.

Journalist Bahaa Muhanna, director of the symposium, pointed out its importance in light of the variables of social concepts, to consolidate the correct concept of the family, and build its members together to enhance the concept of a strong and cohesive society, according to correct social, ethical, legal and educational foundations and standards.

In his intervention, the Director of Tartous Endowments, Abdullah Al-Sayed, touched on the religious aspects that emphasized the issue of family cohesion and the importance of preserving it, as it is the main pillar of the goodness of society.

Al-Sayed stressed the importance of dialogue with specialists to combat domestic violence, based on a true and deep understanding of religion, away from extremism and misinterpretation of the teachings of Islam, which renounces violence in all its forms.

In his turn, Judge Ahmed Deeb spoke about the legal point of view and legislation related to violence, reviewing the types of penalties that fall under the name of family protection, and gave an overview of what the Syrian law included in terms of legislation to protect the family, children and women, and the committees and bodies specialized in this, including Child Law No. 21 of 2018, which guaranteed all The rights of the Syrian child, according to the Personal Status Law, such as the right to care and to practice his hobbies, in a manner commensurate with his situation, and to spread the culture of family education, alternative care, education, and others.

Attorney Maha Ali's intervention focused on defining the phenomenon of violence, its motives, causes and forms, which she considered one of the ongoing and emerging issues in the world despite international laws.

Ali saw that women are more likely than others to be subjected to domestic violence, whether verbal or psychological, which is the most prevalent.
