NFT: Sorare signs a licensing agreement with the most followed football championship in the world

The players of the English Premier League arrive in the form of NFT cards in the game of the French start-up.

A decision of choice for the French start-up which aspires to leadership in the global sports entertainment market.

After diversifying its portfolio of sports covered in 2022 (partnership with the NBA in basketball, with the MLB in baseball), Sorare continues to make its mark on world football.

The Premier League is a championship broadcast to 880 million households in 188 countries, by 90 broadcasters and over 400 channels.

The British championship and its clubs also claim nearly a billion followers on social networks.

With this partnership, Sorare therefore obtains the right to market NFTs for four years in the form of sports cards representing the players of 20 Premier League clubs: Erling Haaland, Kevin de Bruyne, Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane... According to Sky News , this new deal could be worth more than 37 million euros (30 million pounds) a year, a figure that Sorare refused to confirm or deny.

Despite the sharp decline in the NFT market in 2022, the sports world continues to embrace digital assets.

Sorare has signed licensing deals with over 300 sports organizations around the world, including La Liga in Spain, Bundesliga in Germany and Serie A in Italy.

In 2021, Sorare raised $680 million, in a funding round led by Japanese giant Softbank, bringing its valuation to $4.3 billion.

The French company, which counts Kylian Mbappé, ex-tennis champion Serena Williams, Lionel Messi, Zinédine Zidane and Antoine Griezmann among its ambassadors-global investors, claims three million users.
