This January 27, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights issued a sentence in which it holds the Mexican State responsible for violating personal liberty and the presumption of innocence for the application of arraigo and preventive detention to citizens Jorge Marcial Tzompaxtle Tecpile, Gerardo Tzompaxtle Tecpile and Gustavo Robles López, who were arrested in January 2006 on the grounds that they were related to organized crime.
In October 2008 the victims were acquitted and obtained their freedom.
