The Swedish-Chinese electric vehicle brand Polestar performed a significant facelift for the Polestar 2 model that was also launched in Israel about six months ago.
Unlike most facelifts, this time cosmetics were a minor concern in this update, with attention being paid to the car's powertrains and batteries which underwent substantial changes.

From now on Polestar 2 uses new electric motors with higher energy efficiency and the power supplies are also upgraded.
The entry-level version of the Polestar 2, which has been marketed so far with a front engine and drive, will now be offered with an engine and drive for the rear wheels, a similar move that Volvo's 40 series recently underwent, which is based, like the Polestar 2, on Volvo's CMA platform.
The base version with rear-wheel drive will be offered in a version with a normal battery and 272 hp or an enlarged battery and a maximum power of 295 hp, in both cases it is a significant improvement compared to the 231 horsepower of the outgoing entry version.
The version with two engines also received a slight boost with the power growing from 408 to 421 hp, while the 'Performance' version remained with a similar power of 476 hp, but the jump to 100 was shortened to only 4.2 seconds.

An improvement in the cooling system and energy management in the standard battery with a capacity of 69 kWh allows the rear-wheel drive Polestar 2 to display a mileage that has grown by 44 km and stands at 518 km.
The enlarged battery is a new battery made by CTAL and has a capacity of 82 kilowatts, which makes it possible to achieve a maximum range of 635 km in the version with a single engine and up to 592 km in the version with a pair of engines.
In both cases it is a significant range improvement of over 100 km.
The updated Polestar 2 will go into production only at the end of the year as a 2024 model, which means that we will see it in Israel at the earliest only at the beginning of next year.
