Hüflingen – The first emergency calls came in at around 11:31 p.m.: Several rescue workers were called to the marquee of the “Narrendorf” in Behla.

25 people had complained of respiratory problems and nausea, reports the police in Konstanz (Baden-Württemberg).

One person is said to have even passed out, reports the SWR.

After the initial investigation, the police said they assumed that previously unknown perpetrators sprayed an unknown amount of irritant gas in the marquee, causing health problems.

At the time of the irritant gas attack, there were about 500 people in the marquee of the so-called "Fool's Village".

The German Red Cross was on site with two rescue vehicles.
