A drone attack on a military facility near the city of Ishafan has sparked diplomatic tensions between Iran and Ukraine.
The regime in Tehran suspects a Ukrainian action behind the attack - and has now summoned Ukraine's highest representative in the country to comment.
The Foreign Ministry cited statements by an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and "vindictive actions" by the government in Kyiv as the reason, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported.
According to information from Iran, a production facility of the Ministry of Defense near the metropolis of Isfahan in central Iran was attacked with several small aircraft on Sunday night.
Three devices were destroyed by the air defense.
No one was injured in the attack.
The information could not be independently verified.
Iran's Foreign Minister Hussein Amirabdollahian called the attack a "cowardly attack" that would have no impact on his country's nuclear research.
»Explosive Night in Iran«
The Selenskyj adviser Mykhailo Podoliak had commented on the attack on Twitter.
"Explosive night in Iran," Mykhailo Podoliak tweeted on Sunday.
“The logic of war is unrelenting and murderous.
And he gives the authors and accomplices hard bills.
(...) Ukraine warned you.«
Behind the exchange of blows is Iran's partisanship with Russia.
The Tehran regime has admitted to supplying drones to Russia, but before the invasion last year.
The government in Moscow denies that its forces are using Iranian drones in Ukraine, although many have been shot down and recovered there.
It is unlikely that Ukraine is responsible for the drone attack.
The Wall Street Journal, citing people "familiar with the operation," reported that Israel was behind the attacks.
As usual, Israel's army declined to comment on the reports.
Since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Israel has been considered Iran's archenemy - and vice versa.
Just a few days ago, the United States completed a large-scale military exercise with Israel.
The background is growing concerns about Iran's nuclear program.
