On the way to deporting terrorists?
The Knesset plenum will vote today (Monday) in the first reading on the law denying citizenship or residency to terrorists.
This means that the terrorist will be deported to the Palestinian Authority, but the condition is that he must prove that he received funds from the Palestinian Authority.
The law, which has already passed preliminary reading, will go up today to the joint committee of the Knesset Committee and the Interior Committee for preparation for the first reading, where changes will probably be made, and then already in the afternoon it will go up for a vote in the Knesset.

The wording of the current law states that an Israeli citizen who has committed a terrorist attack and is sentenced to actual imprisonment, after his release from prison will be deprived of his citizenship and will be handed over to the Palestinian Authority.
The condition for this is that it has been proven to the Minister of the Interior that the terrorist received funds related to terrorism from the Palestinian Authority.
This is a bill that has the consent of the majority of the House factions and was signed by 106 MKs, while unusually it is also supported by many parts of the opposition. It is about several bills that were combined into one bill. Dichter, Orit Struck Sharan Hashakal, Simcha Rothman, Oded Forer, Zeev Elkin Yanon Azoulai and Meir Cohen.

The explanation to the law states: "These days, many people who hold Israeli citizenship or residency actually receive monthly salaries from the Palestinian Authority, as wages and rewards for committing acts of terrorism. These salaries gradually increase with the length of time the people are in prison. It is unthinkable that citizens and residents of Israel who not only betrayed in the Israeli state and society, but even agreed to receive payment from the Palestinian Authority as a reward for carrying out the act of terrorism and continue to benefit from it, will continue to hold Israeli citizenship or residency."
At the beginning of the week, Prime Minister Netanyahu instructed the Shin Bet to offer him additional deterrent measures against terrorists, this after the serious attack in Neve Ya'akov in Jerusalem, in which seven people were murdered. According to the Prime Minister's Office, the possibility of immediately firing employees who supported terrorism, without the need for a hearing, will also be examined However, it seems that these proposals will encounter legal obstacles. These measures join the cabinet's decision from Saturday night, after which many ministers believed that the decisions made in it were insufficient.
