-- The Organization of American States (OAS) approved this Monday a declaration in which it makes a "firm call" to the Peruvian authorities to hold elections soon, and that they be "fair, free and transparent, with international electoral observation”.
During the session to discuss the project called "Declaration on recent events in Peru", the member states also made clear their concern about the complaints about the "excessive use of force and the violation of academic spaces" during the demonstrations against the government of President Boluarte.

The OAS document on Peru also calls for the taking of "effective measures for accountability for all acts of violence and destruction that occurred" during the protests that, to date, have left 58 people dead.
The project was presented by the Colombian delegation with the co-sponsorship of Antigua and Barbuda.
