The opposition celebrated this Monday the arrest of the leader of the violent Mapuche Ancestral Resistance (RAM) group, Facundo Jones Huala, in El Bolsón, and took aim at the Government. 

"The national government turned a blind eye for almost three years while in the south they suffered violence from characters who pretended to represent indigenous peoples. Ministers resigned so as not to intervene. President Alberto Fernández even received the mother of Jones Huala," the senator questioned. Alfredo Cornejo.

And he added: "A very dangerous logic. The same one they use to give land in Mendoza to Mapuches who are not Mapuches. It worries that they feed alleged leaders who sow violence and do not recognize the Argentine State."

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Security of the government of Mauricio Macri and president of the PRO, Patricia Bullrich, stressed that the arrest of the Mapuche activist in the barbecue area of ​​a house in Río Negro is "an important step" and congratulated the Government of that province .

"An important step! I congratulate Governor Arabela Carreras and the Río Negro Police for the arrest of Jones Huala. It is essential that the law rule in Argentina and that fugitives do not walk like any other citizen. I hope that now the process continues in Chile," Bullrich said.

For his part, deputy Cristina Ritondo highlighted: "Finally, Jones Huala was arrested. He was denounced by a neighbor who found him hiding and drunk in the barbecue area of ​​his house. A less loose criminal. Patagonian families are going to sleep a little better today " .

The Río Negro Police detained Facundo Jones Huala this Monday, who had been a fugitive from the Chilean Justice since February 11, 2022.
