Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet today (Monday) at 12:00 with Agranesh Mengistu, the mother of the Israeli captured by Hamas, Avra Mengistu.
The meeting is being held at the mother's request, after she spoke last week with the Prime Minister's military secretary, and following the video released by Hamas two weeks ago.
At the same time, Netanyahu's office continues to look for a replacement for Yaron Blum, who retired a few months ago from the position of coordinator of prisoners and missing persons.
As I recall, in a video released by Hamas about two weeks ago, Avra said: "I am the prisoner Avra Magisto. How long will I be here? After my painful years here, where is the State of Israel? Who will save us from our fate?"

Ilan, Avra's brother, said after the video was released that "the very fact that Hamas admits that there is a prisoner named Avra, it already says what we knew all along, that he is in their hands and he is alive. We hope that the government will do everything to bring him home."
He also added: "The family is currently helpless, they don't know how to digest this issue, and we hope we will know how to move forward in the future."
They tried to appeal to his heart
Avra, who has a background of mental struggle, crossed the border fence and entered the Gaza Strip on September 7, 2014 and his fate has not been known since then.
Female observers in the observation tower who were in the area recognized him during the crossing and informed the IDF soldiers who were on patrol along the fence about his presence and his approach to the fence. Soldiers called for him to stop and shot in the air but he continued walking towards the fence.
Since his disappearance, his family has been trying to lead to his release.
In June 2018, the family held a protest in front of the Red Cross House in Tel Aviv demanding a sign of life and information about his condition.
In addition, they demanded that he receive medical treatment, the humanitarian conditions and the minimum rights according to international conventions.

A year later, the members of the Mengistu family even met with the chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Abu Mazen, in Mukta. They appealed to Abu Mazen's heart and asked him to help them in their efforts to return their son home. Abu Mazen responded by saying that he would work through all available channels to return their son.
