A 19-year-old resident of Ashdod was arrested last night (Monday) on suspicion of following an elderly man and robbing him of his disability allowance, while spraying him with tear spray.
The Ashdod police opened an investigation last night, after the police center received a report from an elderly man in the 1960s, according to which he was robbed in the doorway of his residential building by a suspect who sprayed him with tear spray, robbed him of cash, which turned out to be the victim's disability allowance - and fled.

According to the suspicion, the suspect followed the victim to the door of his house in District 4, after noticing that he was holding a large amount of money, where he took advantage of the opportunity that he was alone and robbed him.
As mentioned, the suspect turned himself in last night at the police station following actions carried out by police investigators.
More than NIS 700 was seized from the suspect, which, according to the suspicion, originated from the robbery he committed, his detention was extended last night at the Peace Court in Ashkelon until February 2nd.
