The police arrested a 19-year-old man from Ashdod yesterday (Monday) on suspicion of robbing the disability allowance of a city resident in his 60s.

According to the suspicion, the young man followed the victim to the door of his house in the city's fourth district, after noticing that he had a large amount of money in his hands.

When the man was alone, the young man took the opportunity, sprayed him with tear gas, robbed him of his disability allowance - and escaped.

The police opened an investigation and managed to trace the identity of the suspect, who turned himself in last night.

700 shekels were found in his possession, which allegedly belong to a disabled person who was robbed.

The Ashkelon Magistrate's Court extended his detention by four days

About a week ago, an indictment was filed against a 50-year-old resident of Be'er Sheva, for assault and robbery of a 72-year-old disabled person. The investigation revealed that the suspect emerged towards the 72-year-old's car and attacked him.

In the documentation of the case, the suspect can be seen forcing the driver out of his car and taking his wallet.

The investigation also shows that the suspect apparently followed the elderly person, saw him near the ATM and then decided to rob him.

Major Maor Maatuk who investigated the incident said that "a call was received about an attack on an elderly man and the theft of his wallet.

The police realized that it was a robbery.

Before the incident, the victim performed operations at the ATM, then was attacked and robbed by the suspect.

An investigation was immediately launched.

We were able to identify the suspect, who was arrested after the incident."
