The New Mexico Prosecutor's Office formally charged this Tuesday the American actor and producer Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter for the shooting during the filming of the movie
Rust
that cost the life of its director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, in 2021.
Investigators in the case said Tuesday that the shooting, which resulted from a prop weapon that should not have been loaded,
was not necessary for the scene.

Hannah Reed Gutierrez, the person in charge of the prop weapons on set, was also formally charged with involuntary manslaughter on Tuesday, the New Mexico Attorney's Office announced.
As producer of the film, Baldwin failed to ensure a safe environment during filming, in addition to activating the weapon with which Hutchins was fatally wounded in October 2021, said the Prosecutor's Office, which had already announced this month that it would criminally charge the actor.
They confirm that Alec Baldwin will continue to lead the production of the film 'Rust', despite the charges

“The misfires on the set, the way the gun was delivered to him, (Baldwin) has experience.
He understands what the proper protocol for security is, and he just ignored it, ”said special prosecutor Andrea Reeb a week ago.
There is probable cause that Baldwin "committed manslaughter" in an "unlawful act" with his negligent use "of a deadly weapon," special investigator Robert Shilling wrote in a complaint.
Shilling said that after reviewing the film's script and conducting a series of interviews, he found that the scene did not require the gun to be fired.
