The former Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, gave a speech to the Jewish community at the Stryker Center in the "Emmanuel Temple" Synagogue in New York City, and referred to his possible return to the political arena in Israel.
"In Israel we are being wooed. I will come back," Bennett told the listeners.
The main part of Bennett's speech dealt with the relationship between American Jewry and Israel following the new government in Israel.
"Even though we are going through a middle-age crisis, I hope you will not give up on Israel. We have internal discussions that we must clear up. It is not easy. We will overcome it because the majority of the public wants a democratic and Jewish Israel," said the former prime minister.
"I don't want to allay all of your concerns, but while someone can like or dislike what this or that government does, Israel is our family and families go through crises and you don't give up on them. On the contrary, you hug them to you in times of crisis," Bennett explained.
Bennett was asked about the threats to the gay community in Israel following the "Noam" faction joining the government and said: "A lot of people are saying very stupid things. But a lot of that is not going to happen."
