Last Friday, during the metropolitan council, the “Plan Piscines” of Bordeaux Métropole was reinforced, bringing it to a total amount of 32 million euros.

The future Blanquefort swimming pool, built in collaboration with the neighboring town of Parempuyre and that of Cenon, will be inaugurated in 2023. The interior spaces of the Mérignac nautical stadium should also welcome the public from February.

The arrival of new basins will then follow in Bruges and Bordeaux-Belcier by 2024, then in Lormont and Pessac in 2025.

The start of 2023, despite the legal turmoil around the Mérignac nautical stadium, was also marked by the reopening of the Galin swimming pool on the right bank, after eight years of closure.

The Grand Parc swimming pool has closed for renovations and should not reopen until August 2023.

Since 2017, the "Pools Plan" has made it possible "

", recalls Brigitte Bloch.

The elected official specifies that the modification voted on January 27 now allows the metropolis to participate in the financing of several swimming pool projects by municipalities, which should promote their development.
