The Paris Court of Appeal granted this Tuesday, January 31 the request for adjustment of sentence of Pierre Alessandri, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2003 for the assassination in Corsica of the prefect Claude Érignac and detained for almost 24 years, announced the general prosecutor's office.

This probationary semi-release measure will take effect on February 13, 2023, for a period of one year.
Subject to the proper execution of this semi-freedom measure, Pierre Alessandri will then be admitted to the conditional release regime, for a period of ten years

For the first time in the Court of Appeal, the magistrates endeavored to decide on the criteria which must condition a conditional release by disregarding the particular nature of this file

Three requests for release
Pierre Alessandri, who had been released since 2017 after serving his eighteen-year security period, had already made three requests for release.
Each time, the court responsible for the application of anti-terrorist sentences had given the green light to conditional release with partial probation, but the decisions had been overturned by the court of appeal after a suspensive appeal by the national anti-terrorist prosecutor's office ( PNAT).
One of these refusal decisions had been canceled in October by the Court of Cassation, returning the case to be examined again by the Court of Appeal.
The semi-freedom measure will allow Pierre Alessandri to work outside the Borgo prison (Haute-Corse) during the day, in the agricultural sector.
Prior to his incarceration, he operated an essential oil production company.

Pierre Alessandri was transferred in April 2022 to Borgo, as was Alain Ferrandi, the other member of the Érignac commando still alive.
This transfer had been made possible by the lifting of their status as "
particularly reported detainees
", a promise from the executive after the fatal attack in detention of Yvan Colonna in March 2022. Alain Ferrandi, who was also refused several adjustments to his sentence, will be set on February 23 on his last request for parole.
