The party leadership values "the talent" of the CS leader, but warns her that if she joins the PP she will not be able to form any internal current

The possible signing of Begoña Villacís, they congratulate themselves in the Madrid PP, "it will not be a Toni Cantó two"

.

In other words, unlike what happened with the actor and former leader of CS, whom Isabel Díaz Ayuso had to place as director of the Spanish Office after Genoa imposed his signing, now the national leadership of the PP is not going to force the incorporation of the deputy mayor of the capital in the Madrid lists.

The leadership of Alberto Núñez Feijóo opens the door for Villacís to join the party on a national scale, once the president of the Community of Madrid closed his passage into her territory on Monday.

Genoa values "the talent" of the deputy mayor, but warns her that if she joins the PP she will not be able to form any internal current, say sources from Feijóo's direct environment.

Ayuso was clear about the message he was going to convey about Villacís on Monday, taking advantage of his participation in the meeting of the executive committee of the PP.

Upon her arrival at the party headquarters on Calle Génova, the Madrid leader expressed her reluctance about the signing of the CS policy for the Madrid PP.

"The best of Ciudadanos has already come with me," she said, referring to her Culture Minister, Marta Rivera.

"And now, if they have conversations at the national level, I have nothing to say," she added, making it clear that the signing, if it happens, would have to have a national fit.

The Madrid leader had already spoken with Genoa weeks ago about Villacís, according to sources close to her, and there was an agreement that Feijóo would not impose his signing on her, as Pablo Casado did force him to do with Toni Cantó.

Now, Ayuso is the president of the Madrid PP and has the power to draw up the electoral lists, both in the community and in the City Council, although she is going to do it in an agreed manner with the mayor of the capital.

In case there were any doubts, after the words of Ayuso, his

number two

in the government, Vice President Enrique Ossorio, was emphatic blocking the way to the vice mayor: "On the part of the PP of regional Madrid we do not sincerely consider that incorporation."

According to sources from the president's team, the possibility that she ended up in both the Community and the City Council is ruled out.

Genoa knew that Ayuso did not want the vice mayor in Madrid and Feijóo closed ranks with his Madrid baroness, avoiding any internal problem.

In the meeting with the barons in the executive committee, the leader of the PP made it clear that he will leave the territories free to draw up their lists, especially in the case of the presidents who are governing, according to sources present in the body.

In this way, Feijóo stressed behind closed doors, in front of Ayuso and all the other territorial leaders, that he will not impose the incorporation of Villacís on the Madrid PP.

Based on this refusal in Madrid, Genoa opens the national path for its incorporation into the PP, according to sources close to Feijóo.

In the popular dome they admit that they are interested in the profile of the vice mayor, and hence the meeting that the general coordinator of the popular, Elías Bendodo, held with her last week to study her transition to the PP.

One of her options is for her to join as a congressional candidate, but Genoa warns that she won't accept insiders.

"Here the PP is not going to be fragmented," say blunt sources of Feijóo's confidence.

The rest of the party welcomes her possible incorporation, but the deputy mayor is not received with enthusiasm either.

"She does not contribute talent or management, but she does bring the perception that CS is integrated into the PP," says a popular baron in private.

Villacís's problem, once his movements have come to light, is that everything has become complicated for him both in his party and in the PP.

To begin with, the national leadership of CS has closed the door for Ciudadanos to attend Madrid with the Popular Party, either on joint lists or by assigning independent councilors in the candidacy of the mayor, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, in exchange for not presenting a candidacy own.

“This executive will comply with the mandate that the affiliates gave us.

We are very clear that we will defend our own space, the liberal one.

Whoever stands to be the candidate of the Madrid City Council must respect the mandate of the affiliates and the leadership of the party", said the leader of Ciudadanos, Patricia Guasp, on Monday at a press conference at the headquarters of the formation, in the who reiterated, however,

that Villacís is a "great asset" of the party and that they continue to count on her to be the "candidate" of CS in Madrid.

However, the formation gives her a week to decide her future, because the primaries for the heads of the list in the municipal elections will be held between February 15 and 16, and she would have to apply if she wants to participate in that process. internal election already this weekend, with Sunday as the deadline.

Villacís has little time to decide her next steps, but now her jump to the PP has also been complicated.

The vice mayor met with the 10 councilors of her team on Monday morning in Cibeles in a conclave in which the issue of her future was discussed.

A turbulent meeting that she left to attend another scheduled meeting with the national spokesperson for Ciudadanos, Patricia Guasp, at 3:00 p.m. at the party headquarters, according to several CS sources.

However, she did not show up.

A sit-in for the national leadership of the still party of hers in the middle of the final stretch of her final decision.
