When the case was being dealt with in the High Court today (31st), Zhao waived his conviction appeal and was required to serve his sentence immediately.


The appellant, Meiying Chao, was found to have published seditious writings in the Third Chamber of West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts on January 4 last year, with the intent to arouse hatred of, contempt for, or arouse defection against, the judiciary of Hong Kong, or to encourage others to break the law or act inappropriately. Obey lawful orders.

She was involved in clapping hands during the trial of the June 4th case, and saying, "This one is from the court now", "Bao Qingtian is here for trial", etc.

As for the male defendant Peng Manyuan in the same case, he was convicted of two crimes of publishing seditious texts and one or more acts with seditious intent, and was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
