Damascus-SANA
Within the framework of encouraging the artistic movement due to its importance and its role in human life and the role of arts in developing the aesthetic taste of students, the Ministry of Education launched today, with plastic artist Badie Jahjah, the “Colors and Ideas” competition for the sixth year in a row, entitled “Knowledge is a bridge to goodness and peace.”
The competition includes drawing a painting divided into three age groups, the first for students of the first cycle of basic education and is titled “My friend”, and the second age group is for students of the second cycle of basic education and is titled “Dream”, while the third age group is dedicated to high school students and is related to drawing the atmosphere of a party or A painting by a Syrian pioneer artist.
The competition, which left the participating students the freedom to choose the appropriate technique of colors and other materials to formulate their paintings, required that a sentence drawn from local or international literature be written behind the participating painting that carries appropriate wisdom for each age stage.
The jury will select the winning works according to the axes of idea, composition, technique and sentence, and the works will be presented through a virtual exhibition on the Ministry of Education page and the Alf Noun page for arts and spirituality on Facebook. The winning paintings will also be printed in a colored booklet and certificates of appreciation will be presented to the winners.
As for the financial prizes, they are presented by the Alf Noon Hall, where a prize of 25,000 Syrian pounds is allocated for the first cycle, which is awarded to 200 students, and the second cycle, whose prize is 40,000 pounds, is awarded to 50 students, and for the secondary category, the prize is 60,000 pounds, which is awarded to 50 students.
In a statement to SANA, plastic artist Badie Jahjah stated that Alif Noun is continuing its project, which it started in 2017 in partnership with the Ministry of Education, by launching the 2023 Colors and Ideas Competition, to confirm through it the value of art through its stages of development in influencing the behavior of individuals, societies and civilizations.
Jahjah pointed out that this year's competition was titled "Knowledge is a Bridge to Good and Peace" with different and varied topics for all age groups from the first grade to the baccalaureate, noting that a financial share of the art output was allocated in the Alf Noon Hall, especially symbols of rotation and dervishes, to finance the prizes for all students. This confirms the importance of galleries being beacons of awareness for the development of creative ideas and the transition to supporting art through development at its highest levels.
The submission of fees for participation in the competition starts from tomorrow, Wednesday, until the first of next April, provided that the works are sent from schools in all governorates to the specialized instructor of art education in the education directorates within a maximum period of April 25.
