There is more than a month left for
Formula 1
to be played again, when the Bahrain Grand Prix is defined on March 5.
But the new season is already throbbing because
Haas
became
the first team to show the new design of its car
.
Rather than a full-scale launch, Haas opted to showcase the car that Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg will drive this year virtually.
Only
on February 11 will he physically appear for the first time in the English circuit test of Silverstone
.
With a forceful facelift, which left behind any past links with Russia, the
VF-23
was presented through some digital renders in which it can be seen that the blue of Uralkali's old sponsorship was removed from the body.
Black
now dominates
the sidepods and engine cover, while white remains at the front and there are flashes of red, reminiscent of the 2020 design.
The new colors have to do with the
new main sponsor
of American Gene Haas's team: the money transfer company MoneyGram, whose name appears on the car's engine cover.
"We head into a new season
buoyed by some strong performances
from the team last year and a return to point-worthy finales. The goal for the 2023 season is, naturally, to do it more consistently," Gene Haas said in a statement. official.
He also referred to his new pair of pilots, since first Magnussen replaced Nikita Mazepin -after the Russian invasion of Ukraine- and now Hülkenberg will occupy the position vacated by the German Mick Schumacher.
"
I think we have a couple of experienced drivers more than capable of delivering those points on any given Sunday
," the team owner underlined.
Sporting director
Guenther Steiner
added: "Obviously I share everyone's
enthusiasm
around the livery unveiling, not least because it's a checkpoint on the pre-season calendar, which means we're one step closer to making what we really want to do, and that's go running.
“It's an exciting time of year for Formula 1 and
it's great that we're the first out there
to show off our livery, but our attention is firmly on getting the VF-23 on track and preparing for the coming season.
We really have something to build on after last year's performances," he reinforced.
On the new driver pairing, Steiner opined: "
Obviously in Kevin and Nico we have two proven point-scoring talents locked up behind the wheel
. I can't wait to get started."
Haas will enter the 2023 campaign looking to continue its recent upward trajectory, having finished eighth in the Constructors' Championship under last year's new rules.
