Gauchos on horseback stopped the Kirchnerist march towards Lago Escondido

2023-01-31T19:59:11.854Z

Dozens of baqueanos prevented the militants from various groups from using a private road that leads to the shores of the lake and also to Joe Lewis's mansion.

The main column of the so-called 7th March for the Sovereignty of Lago Escondido, made up of some 500 members of

various Kirchnerist organizations

, was stopped by a group of

baqueanos on horseback

at the entrance to the Tacuifí road that leads directly to the lake and the owned by English businessman

Joe Lewis.

The baqueanos, many of them young people and adolescents, padlocked the thick black gate and positioned themselves behind them, even using their horses so that there was not the slightest possibility of the militants entering.

"

You can't pass this is private property,

" they told the militants.

Meanwhile, the

second column continues advancing up the steep mountain path,

which also leads to the shores of the lake.

In turn, the Río Negro police ordered an

operation that includes some 70 agents

, but the order of the security forces seems to be not to intervene unless it is essential.

Among the leaders and militants who were seen at the entrance to the direct road were Magdalena Odarda,

Sergio Maldonado

(Santiago's brother), while

Jorge Rachid, Milagro Sala's personal doctor,

led the group that was going down the mountain path.

Neighbors reported that in the days prior to this demonstration they discovered in the area vehicles that belonged to the Ministry of National Security led by Aníbal Fernández.

Around noon, members of the main column

used their kayaks to navigate the Soberanía lake

that is on the route and

lit a fire on its shores

, two actions prohibited by the Río Negro Environment Secretariat.

In one of the videos circulating, Rachid can be seen leaning on a boat while asking: "How much is the little trip here?"

The demonstrators installed on the road to Tacuifí carried numerous banners, one of them read: "

Out with the English from Patagonia and the Malvinas

".

Strictly speaking, Lago Escondido is much more accessible now than when the former owners, the Monteros, were there, the residents of the area say.

So, in the 90s, the Tacuifí road was called Montero and it was basically a track.

Over the years, Lewis initiated numerous actions aimed at maintaining ties with neighbors, including guided tours by schools and other organizations, fishing permits, and even a vehicle track that he built especially for El Bolsón fans.

During the night and early morning before the march, the gauchos in the area used WhatsApp messages to alert the population of El Bolsón and Bariloche about the advance of the column.

"Dear residents of the region, I own a small field in El Foyel, where

we are attacked by people who come from Buenos Aires

, today a lot of buses arrived to want to run over us, to throw us down the gate, and we need your support. Mobs are coming , brave bars are coming, unionism is coming, we thank you if anyone can help, "said a well-known producer, Pablo Puchi in one of the audios that circulated.

According to the data provided by the organizers themselves, 30 vehicles arrived in the El Foyel area, many of them buses, transporting some 500 militants ready to enter the Tacuifí road.

They also informed that they

take with them 1 ton of equipment to ensure a long camp

, something that Juan Grabois and his men could not carry out, who left in December after a very cold night and due to the lack of water and food.

Every year the march is promoted by the

Interactive Foundation to Promote the Culture of Water (Fipca)

.

Among the participating organizations, it is estimated that there will be a total of 120, including La Cámpora, Coordinating Table for the Defense of the Sovereignty of the Paraná River, Los Pines Popular Movement, Socialist Workers Movement, Left Front, Bolivar Group, Group for Sovereignty, among others.

Last year the Bariloche Court of Appeals confirmed a 2013 decision to open the Tacuifí road, the company appealed to the Superior Court of Río Negro.
