The Maria Thalheim fire brigade has not only had a new board since Sunday, it is also on the way to becoming a registered association.

The annual general meeting in L'Italiano decided this unanimously, now the necessary legal steps are to follow.

Maria Thalheim – The advantage for the 208-strong association: The active members are relieved of their responsibility, which on the other hand, due to the statutes, will probably entail some personnel changes.

The new board of directors, on the other hand, has hardly changed: the previous cashier Konrad Sturz changes his position and becomes an assessor, his successor is Roman Auer, the previous second commander.

As Commander Harald Eberl explained, last year there were 21 missions, three larger joint exercises and several courses.

The Wehr currently has 57 active firefighters and twelve members of the youth fire brigade, including a total of nine women.

Speaking of youth: youth warden Sarah Limmer reported on eight exercises, participation in the youth performance badge and preparations for the so-called project marathon.

Here the young people were active in the construction of a multi-generational aviary, they removed the dung heap in front of the historic Jagahaus behind the community center.

They also enjoyed an exercise at the school in Reichenkirchen and the youth fire brigade day.

There was also joy when the previous cashier, Konrad Sturz, presented the finances: in 2022, the income was around 10,500 euros and expenses around 6,500 euros, and the cash position was around 19,000 euros.

"So," said chairman Christian Obermaier to a member's request for a joint excursion, "it should be possible after all."

Obermaier and secretary Bernhard Schäffler reviewed the past year in all its facets.

The activities ranged from firefighting, accident assistance or safety measures to further training, exercises or security guards.

Among other things, it was necessary to clean the local bathing pond, open an apartment or pump out a flooded cellar, but social events were also part of the fire service year: a successful summer festival, the Christmas tree auction or appointments for flag delegations.

Both Obermaier and Eberl thanked all those active for their voluntary work, the deputy mayor Hans Rasthofer also underlined this topic in his greeting.

Honors and appointments followed: Valentin Sturz received two certificates as the new chief firefighter and loyalty for ten years, Manuel Höllinger was promoted to senior firefighter and Josef Algasinger was honored for ten years of membership.

The board:

Chairman: Christian Obermaier, deputy

Chairman: Lambert Bart;

Treasurer: Roman Auer;

Secretary: Bernhard Schäffler;

Assessors: Manfred Rampf, Robert Moosrainer and Konrad Sturz;

Equipment Manager: Justin Rosenberger;

Auditors: Alois Korber and Bernhard Schuster.
