The trial of online player Yannick Nascimiento, alias "

Mr WaynZ

", tried for rape, kidnapping and attempted murder of former spouses, opened on Tuesday January 31 before the Paris Assize Court.

Incarcerated since October 2019, the 34-year-old ex-streamer is on trial for alleged violence and rape committed between and 2007 and 2019 on four of his ex-companions, often encountered in the sphere of online video games.

He is also accused of having tried to kill one of them, also a streamer, in his apartment in 2019 in Paris.

The young woman was probably saved in extremis by the arrival of the police alerted by her screams while her companion tried several times to suffocate her.

Jealousy and domination

Each story has the same backdrop: jealousy, physical domination and coerced sexual acts, including on his partner then pregnant with their son.

The accused, who appeared in the box with his head shaved, face thin and free of the long beard he wore at the time of the events, had mentioned during the investigation "

Freedom of speech for streamers

Born in November 1988 in Coulommiers (Seine-et-Marne), Yannick Nascimiento had forged a small notoriety among gamers by posting, under the pseudonym "

Mr WaynZ

", his own video game games on the YouTube channel of a partner named "

Fragile Production

" and followed by some 200,000 subscribers.

In 2014, he began to receive between 300 and 900 euros monthly thanks to his content which he also shared on the live streaming platform Twitch where he presented himself as "

the fragile bearded man

".

He was followed by some 93,000 spectators who could watch his games in progress, listen to his comments and interact with him live via an integrated chat.

Since this case, the word of streamers harassed on Twitch and its virtual world has been somewhat released.

The trial is due to continue until February 10.
