The rescue forces announced that there was no hope of finding survivors in the mosque where the bloody attack took place in the north of the country • Conflicting reports about the Pakistani faction of the Taliban claiming responsibility for the attack

Heavy grief in the city of Peshawar in northern Pakistan: the number of those killed in the bloody attack on a mosque in the city of Peshawar has risen to 92, as the rescue forces estimate that no more survivors will be found among the ruins of the mosque, which was completely destroyed in the explosion.

"At this stage we have no real hope of finding survivors. At this stage we are focusing on retrieving bodies," said Bilal Faizi, spokesman for Peshawar's rescue and rescue system.

The city's hospitals announced that at least a hundred wounded are still hospitalized as a result of the attack and that some of them are in critical condition.

The mosque is near a local police headquarters and was supposed to be heavily secured, a major blow to the Pakistani government's already loose control over the tribal area.

Among the dead were many policemen, who used the mosque as their place of prayer.

The prime minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, said following the terrorist attack: "Terrorists want to instill fear by harming those who are mobilizing to defend Pakistan."

The Taliban organization in Pakistan initially took responsibility for the attack, in a short message published by two senior members of the terrorist organization.

However, during the night hours, the organization's spokesman, Mohammad Khorsani, published a statement denying the organization's involvement in the attack completely.

"Regarding the incident in Peshawar, it is important to clarify that the Tahrik-e-Taliban organization has nothing to do with the incident. According to the laws and our general constitution, any action against a mosque, madrassa, cemeteries or other holy places constitutes an offense and is strictly prohibited."

Despite the speaker's words, the organization has often attacked mosques and places of study in the past, especially those belonging to other sects of Islam and opponents of the organization.

Experts in Pakistan estimated that the organization, which signed a ceasefire agreement with the Islamabad government last year, was behind the attack, which was clearly aimed at Pakistani police officers, and was intended to further undermine Islamabad's control of the border area with Afghanistan.
