(ANSA) - MILAN, JAN 31 - High school students worried about their future after graduation between the risk of low wages and precarious work on the one hand, and the hypothesis of going abroad depriving the country of its intelligence on the other.

This is what emerges, in summary, from a focus carried out by the Freud Institute of Milan based on a survey involving 950 students.

Only 41.5% think they will find a job quickly after graduation, but even if 65.6% think that the educational qualifications and skills will be adequate, 62.9% believe that the compensation will not be good.

What's more: it emerges that 72.7% feel little protected by laws and contracts regarding layoffs, job insecurity and low wages and 96.3% consider it necessary for the Government to intervene with ad hoc policies.

If gender equality is close for 43.4%, according to 90.6% there is no meritocratic valorisation for young people and for 71.7% they do not see attractive professional prospects.

Furthermore, for 56.9% a permanent contract is considered a mirage in the first years of employment.

Also for these reasons, 81.1% consider moving abroad.

"Insufficient investment and employment in education and in post-diploma means fleeing to other countries - underlines Daniele Nappo, director of Freud -. This testifies to the many problems for girls and boys when they enter the job market. We need to experiment with some incentive models: we cannot allow the system to be unable to hold back a loss of human capital, there is a need for joint work between investment measures and greater involvement of the stakeholders in training".
