Diego Chacón (42) had a red alert from Interpol. They wanted him for being the ideologue of an attempted assault in Jujuy that ended with one death. They found it before the game with the Netherlands.

Diego Javier Chacón (42)

, accused of being the ideologue of an attempted robbery of a distributor in Jujuy that ended with a murder, had been arrested on December 8 in Qatar, where he had traveled to enjoy the World Cup.

He had a red alert from Interpol.

They found him in a Doha complex, where more than 4,000 Argentines were, the day before the quarterfinal match against the Netherlands.

This Monday night, he was extradited.

Police and Interpol sources confirmed that the defendant left Qatar this Monday night for the Ezeiza International Airport.

He did it escorted by several police officers.

And he was dressed in a jacket and jogging pants from the Argentine National Team.

Upon arriving in Jujuy this Tuesday,

he refused to give a statement before the Justice

.

He appeared before Judge Jorge Rodolfo Zurueta, in charge of Control Court No. 1 of the province, to hear the cause of imputation.

Later, he was transferred to the forensic doctor of the Public Prosecution Ministry, by protocol.

He was housed in Penal Service No. 1 in the Gorriti neighborhood, in a maximum security cell to protect his physical integrity.

Diego Chacó was escorted by police officers at the Doha airport.

According to Interpol's red ID, Chacón was listed as suspected of being the "boss" of an organization dedicated to the robbery of large companies in Jujuy, for which four other people had already been arrested: two from Mendoza, another man and a woman who said be a "tarotist".

The investigators determined that the investigated event occurred between the first days of last November when Chacón would have contacted other accomplices, to whom he gave information about the logistical, human and commercial movement of a distributor

"Mamprin y De La Torre"

, located in the San Pedrito neighborhood of the City of San Salvador de Jujuy.

In that place, he ordered them to show up with firearms to seize "under any circumstances" the money that was in said company as a result of the collection.

The criminals, one of them

dressed in heels and a wig

, entered the dairy distributor located on Puya Puya street on Saturday afternoon, November 19, with clear robbery intentions, since they apparently had the information that there were about

13,000,000 pesos

, although minutes before they had already been withdrawn by the owner.

During the assault there was a struggle between the criminal disguised as a woman and

César Javier Martínez (31)

, an employee, who received a 22-caliber projectile in his head and died hours later.

Another worker was wounded by a firearm.

He suffered the impact of at least two projectiles in his legs.

Finally, the gang fled without completing the robbery.

Diego Chacón was arrested in Qatar, the day before the crossing with the Netherlands.

After an investigation, the Provincial Criminal Court of Justice, through the Fiscal Homicide Unit, in charge of Diego Cussel, ordered on December 5 the international arrest to the detriment of several defendants, including Chacón, for the crime of "Robbery qualified by the use of a firearm in the degree of attempt, in real competition with homicide criminis causa and homicide criminis causa in the degree of attempt."

The province's Homicide Division raided one of Chacón's homes.

Among other things, they kidnapped a cell phone in which they found

photos in the first games in Argentina.

From that moment on, the investigation was transferred to Interpol Argentina.

And the agents of the Federal Investigation Division of Fugitives and Extraditions checked his country.

He had traveled to Buenos Aires, made a stopover in Paris and landed in Doha.

"When his international capture became effective, he was already in Doha. At the time he left the country, he had no restrictions," explained an Argentine investigator from the PFA, which in our country works together with Interpol.

And he adds: "But during the World Cup there is an international police cooperation center. We notified them and they took care of the arrest."

Diego Chacón ended up being extradited.

"Surely he was aware of the search at his home, because the cell phone in which the photos were found belonged to a woman who would be his partner," revealed a source of the investigation.

"But maybe she was overconfident. Because her profile wasn't on Interpol's red notices," she added.

From what

Clarín

could find out , Chacón had his own legal study, which bears his name.

He is a fan of Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy, a team for which he brought a flag to Qatar.

He had a criminal record.

In March 2019, he was arrested for an armed robbery of a supermarket located 40 kilometers from the capital of Jujuy.

The Police reduced him to a service station, after a chase and shooting.

He was the pilot of the gang, who had just stolen more than 130,000 pesos.

They charged him with the crime of "gang robbery and with a firearm" and he had to await trial in freedom.
