Towards an explosion in Ramadan? The prisoners are threatening an acute rebellion Israel today

The detainees warn that if the "status quo" is violated, they will take measures, including not complying with the count • disrupting the inspection of bars • a hunger strike • "If you do not curb the treatment of the prisoners, you will have a problem with the street in the West Bank and with Hamas and Jihad in Gaza"

Pressure inside the prisons:

An official of the Palestinian Prisoners' Authority told "Israel Hayom" this evening (Tuesday) that the increasing pressure on the prisoners inside the prisons in Israel is leading to the worsening of the existing tension and may also inflame the security situation in the area.

Male and female prisoners in several prisons, including Katziot, Ofer, Megiddo and Damon, claimed that they had been exposed in recent days to provocative measures that included forced abductions, thorough searches and confiscation of equipment and cargo.

Among the prisoners, there is talk of vigilance in the background of "the strict policy of the new Israeli government", when the trigger this time was what was called "aggression towards the representative of the female prisoners, Yasmin Shaaban, in Damon prison yesterday.

"For many years there have been unwritten understandings between the SBS management and the prisoners regarding the daily life of the prisoners in the prison.

But now the prisoners are beginning to see that there is a beginning of contempt and violation of these agreements, and that all kinds of things in their daily lives can change as a result.

If the SBS decides to renege on the commitments, the prisoners will not honor them either."

In this context, the source said that the prisoners are threatening that if the "status quo" in the prison is violated, they will take various measures that will gradually worsen until March 22, the estimated date of the beginning of the month of Ramadan.

Among the measures being considered: failure to comply with the count, failure to cooperate with "bar inspection" (a procedure designed to rule out escape attempts), return of meals and even a general hunger strike.

"Instead of counting or checking bars taking 20 minutes, we can make it last three hours. As you apply sanctions, the prisoners will also react and make life difficult for the guards and officers. You also want to dismantle the existing organizational structure and that there will no longer be representatives of departments whose job it is to be in contact with the prison management and to conduct contacts with it. This is a red line. If this happens, you will have no one to talk to, we will not make any representative available to them on behalf of the prisoners, and we will enter a state of emergency until a hunger strike. This means that the whole normal process of life in the prisons will go wrong, and the prisoners will rebel ", said the source.

According to him, in such a situation, the prisoners' struggle will not remain inside the prisons but will flow outside.

"You want to torpedo things that were agreed upon for 50 years. Therefore, every little thing today that is done against every male and female prisoner in prison - it attracts a lot of attention. If you do not curb your attitude and plans towards the prisoners, you will have a problem both with the Palestinian street in the West Bank and with Hamas and Jihad in Gaza," he warned.
