The dog boutique owner from Munich died at the age of 53 - but his business should now be continued.

Munich - A wonderful soul" or "You will never be forgotten!" - these are heartwarming words with which friends, acquaintances and companions say goodbye to Tom Fritsch on Facebook.

On January 12, the dog boutique owner died at the age of 53 from the neurological disease ALS.

Tom Fritsch became known above all for his commitment to animal welfare and his cult shop Ludwigs Welt on Rumfordstraße in Munich.

He also wrote a children's book about his dog and best friend Ludwig, a Prague Ratter.

Munich: Tom Fritsch 53 (†) is dead – wave of grief

The dismay at Fritsch's death was great on the Internet.

"You and Ludwig were an inspiration," writes one lady.

"Incredibly sad," many others comment and can hardly believe that "such a fine person" is no more.

“An angel will accompany you on your last journey.

You will never be forgotten!” it also says on Facebook.

Or: "Tom will always be in our hearts." Due to the overwhelming sympathy, husband Peter Stumm has now published an obituary for the animal rights activist on Facebook - even if the memories of Tom and his stories could fill "entire books".

He tells of the difficult childhood that Tom Fritsch had and how he later fought his way up and fled to a better world "in which he was allowed to be the way he was".

Peter Stumm remembers his husband's "cheeky mouth" - and his generosity.

"How often did Tom send the rose sellers to the unexpected end of the day because he bought the whole bouquet from them!" Tom was only happy when he was able to share special moments with special people, Peter Stumm continues.

But he didn't just have a big heart for people, but also for animals.

Peter Stumm will continue to run the store on Rumfordstraße, "in Tom's spirit".

Means: further expand the animal welfare activities and implement other ideas, such as an online shop.
