An Iranian couple, both social media influencers, have been sentenced to 10-and-a-half years in prison after a video surfaced of them dancing in a main square in central Tehran, it has been reported. the activist group Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA).
In a video posted by the couple and widely shared on social media, Astiyazh Haghighi, 21, is seen dancing unveiled with her fiancé Amir Mohammad Ahmadi, 22, in Azadi Square.
Both were charged with "spreading corruption and vice" and "gathering and collusion with the intent to disturb national security," according to HRANA.

Judge Abolqasem Salavati presided over the case and sentenced them to 10 and a half years in prison, as well as a two-year ban on posting videos on social media and a two-year ban on leaving the country, according to HRANA.
Salavati insulted the two in court, threatening harsher sentences and humiliating them, the source told CNN.

Security forces first raided the couple's home in the early hours of October 30, the source told CNN, taking them for interrogation before transferring them to prison.

Haghighi was initially sent to Evin Prison Ward 209 but was later transferred to Qarchak Women's Prison where she is currently being held and both she and her partner are denied access to a lawyer, HRANA reports.

Haghighi and Ahmadi each have close to a million followers on Instagram and also have separate YouTube channels with a total of more than half a million followers.
