A radioactive capsule that the authorities in western Australia have been looking for for days has reappeared.
As reported by the broadcaster ABC, among others, the small part was found about 50 kilometers south of the city of Newman in the state of Western Australia.
Several emergency personnel had been searching for the capsule for days after it was lost in transit from a mine.
"I would like to stress that this is an exceptional result," said Civil Protection Secretary Stephen Dawson.
Due to the unnoticed loss during transport, a distance of 1400 kilometers was considered as a potential find site.
It was noticed on January 25th when the truck was unloaded that the capsule was missing.
Late on Friday (local time), the Western Australia State Department of Health informed the public about the incident.
Most recently, the British-Australian mining company Rio Tinto, in whose mine the capsule was used, apologized for the loss.
