Fasten your belts and prepare your wallet: the peak of the flood of price increases is still ahead of us • In the coming months we will be required to pay more for alcohol, soft drinks, milk, vegetables and even electric scooters - and the list goes on • When will we see the end? not soon

You don't have to spend a little time: the wave of price increases washes over us, the consumers, in all areas - from food to toiletries, care and more.

After the struggles of the food chains against the food companies that wanted to raise prices, led by Shufersal - the wave of price increases includes almost all the major companies in the market.

We will remind you that Shufersell, which was fighting Unilever until recently, raised the prices of Unilever's products after three months when Unilever's products were absent from the shelves, and after raising the prices by less than what Unilever demanded.

As for the near future, alcohol products are becoming more expensive.

Sources in the industry claim that the price increase is a result of the tax increase by the state.

Also, the euro rate has increased by 14% since the beginning of 2022.

The vineyard company, which markets a wide variety of alcohol brands, will raise the prices of the company's products on March 1 by an average of 4-5%.

The upload to the institutional market took place already on February 1.

The vineyard company markets, among others, Glenfiddich whiskey, Remy Martin cognac, Stoli vodka, Jagermeister and more.

The drinks will cost more

On behalf of the Hakerem company, it was stated that "Unfortunately, there are products that have become more expensive due to various reasons: our suppliers have raised prices, some significantly, some already during 2022; transportation has become more expensive, foreign exchange rates have increased, the index has increased and, accordingly, so has the purchase tax.

However, we tried very hard not to make some of the products more expensive and absorb price increases where possible, and even discount in individual cases."

The Tempo beverage manufacturer will raise the prices of some of the company's products on March 1.

The increase does not include the prices of soft drinks, which include, among others, Pepsi, Seven-Up, Miranda and more, which have become significantly more expensive due to the tax on sweet drinks.

Most products will become more expensive at a rate of between 3% and 5%, and the special beers will become more expensive at a rate of up to 15%.

Spirits will become more expensive by 3% to 14%.

Tempo owns many brands, including Absolut, Jameson, Ballantines, Chivas and more.

So, for example, the Maccabi and Goldstar beer brands will have a 4.9% increase, Eagle beer will have a 4% increase, and draft beers will have a 3% increase.

That is, this increase is expected to affect the bars as well.

A flood of price increases

A significant increase is also expected in the prices of controlled dairy products.

The managers of the dairies and the dairy farmers recently said in the economic committee that the prices of the milk products under supervision will increase in May by 16%-15%.

Among the imported products whose prices are expected to increase: cheeses, vegetables, kitchen utensils, furniture, olive oil, textile products, products in the construction industry, spare parts for cars and even electric scooters, at a rate of up to 12%.

Fortunately, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich prevented the increase in the price of fuel, the price of which was supposed to jump by 33 shekels per liter, to the level of 7.17 NIS in self-service.

The rest of the promises made when presenting the plan to curb price increases - have been partially fulfilled or have not yet been fulfilled.

Thus, for example, the promise to reduce the electricity tariff increase to 2.5% instead of 8.2% has not yet been fully realized, and in practice the electricity tariff increased by 6.7%.

According to sources in the Ministry of Finance, the intention is to make another reduction in the price of electricity in March.

The same should be done regarding the freezing of the water rate and property tax - the intention is to implement the freeze in March.

Which products should be discounted soon?

The sugary drinks and disposable dishes.

However, it is not at all certain that they will be reduced immediately after the removal of the customs duty, and even if they are, the question is at what rate.

Is the reform on the way?

In the meantime, Economy Minister Nir Barkat met last Tuesday with the CEO of Diplomat and the CEO of Tnuva in preparation for the reform of the food market, which is intended to limit monopolies and large importers in the economy.

At the meeting, Barkat clarified that the intention is to advance the reform, and that he "expects them to go under the stretcher, because the citizens of Israel are not willing to pay much more than the rest of the world, and that addressing the cost of living is a strategic task of the new government."

Barkat intends to invite the other heads of the companies in the coming week in preparation for the reform, and the goal is to hear them in preparation for it.

The recent price increases join, as mentioned, many recent price increases.

Thus, for example, Esem Nestlé raised the prices of some of its products at the beginning of January by an overall average rate of 3.4% (the range of price increases is 5.9%-2.9%).

Pasta became more expensive by 5.9%, snacks such as Beasley by 3.5% and ketchup by 5.9%. On December 19, Strauss raised prices by 2.9% to 9%.

For example, the price of chocolate in a 1 liter bottle became more expensive by 4.7%, a box of 8 chocolate bags became more expensive by 4.7%, Lorfek and Arla spreads by about 4.7%, and 1 liter Alpro almond drink by about 9%.
