Greater Paris: users of the Gare de l'Est still impacted by lane cuts this weekend

Part of the traffic will be cut on Saturday and Sunday at Gare de l'Est to replace 260 meters of track between Bondy and Gagny. the

Decidedly, this beginning of the year is not a good time for users in the east of the Ile-de-France region.

After the total closure of the Gare de l'Est due to sabotage a little over a week ago, the network will once again be largely paralyzed this weekend.

This time, it is a construction site which deprives the inhabitants of Seine-Saint-Denis and Seine-et-Marne of trains.

Work planned for a long time.

Long before the arson of cables that impacted the Gare de l'Est.

From Friday February 3 at 11 p.m. until Sunday February 5 at the end of the day, it will again be partially closed.

SNCF Réseau will carry out major track modernization work in eastern Paris, between Bondy and Gagny in Seine-Saint-Denis.

Approximately 260 meters of track will thus be renewed between the two towns.

In other words, in 41 hours, all the rails and the ballast - the large stones that support the rails - as well as the track communication systems will first be removed to be replaced by new elements.

This work will impact traffic departing from and arriving at Gare de l'Est, since it will be impossible for many trains to circulate throughout the construction phase.

No train for Meaux, and 40% of TGV canceled to Strasbourg

Thus, no train will run on Saturday between Paris-Est, Meaux and Château-Thierry.

Traffic will also be completely interrupted between Châlons-en-Champagne and Paris-Est.

However, replacement coaches are in place.

On the RER E, the Haussmann station is not served on Saturday and Sunday.

And between Magenta and Chelles - Gournay, traffic will be interrupted on Saturday and Sunday February 5 from 10:30 p.m.

Ditto for the TGVs which take the direction of Strasbourg and systematically use this section.

They will therefore not be able to circulate.

That is to say towards the east of France, towards Germany and towards Luxembourg.

40% of TGVs to and from Gare de l'Est are cancelled.

The rest of the 60% maintained will leave from Paris Nord station.

Only trains and TER using the tracks towards Troyes as well as the branches of line P towards Coulommiers and Provins in Seine-et-Marne are not affected.

More closures to come

Regarding the fire that paralyzed the Gare de l'Est for 24 hours, the investigation is still ongoing.

SNCF Réseau indicates for its part that “everything has been repaired”.

However, the station will be strongly impacted by a succession of construction sites this year.

First to regenerate and modernize all the aging equipment.

For example, three new turnouts must be changed at Pantin.

This means early closings.

But it is above all the upcoming commissioning of Éole, the western extension of the RER E, which will lead to several weekends of closure.

These cuts will connect the East line to the new West portion.

The new trains should be able to run from next fall on the existing line.

And if all goes well, the new part between Saint-Lazare and La Défense,
