In the shadow of the escalation: the Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad will arrive in Cairo | Israel Hayom

An Egyptian source told the Al-Rad channel this evening (Wednesday) that Cairo called on the leadership of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization to meet urgently to discuss de-escalation and the situation in Jerusalem.

It was also reported that the discussion will also deal with the situation of female prisoners.

Following this, sources told the Lebanese Al-Mayadeen network that the Secretary General of the Islamic Jihad, Ziad Nakhale, is expected to visit Cairo following the government's invitation.

At the same time, sources told the Palestinian newspaper "Al-Quds" that a delegation of the Islamic Jihad organization will arrive in Cairo tomorrow at the invitation of the Egyptian intelligence apparatus.

The sources said that the delegation will include senior officials from the Islamic Jihad from the Gaza Strip and abroad, including people from the military branch. The delegation is expected to meet with senior officials in Egyptian intelligence and especially with senior officials responsible for the Palestinian case.

According to the sources, a delegation from the terrorist organization Hamas is also expected to arrive in the coming days.

The invitation of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad to Cairo comes against the background of Egypt's efforts in recent days to curb the wave of Palestinian terrorism and prevent the deterioration of the situation.

Accordingly, according to the report, senior Egyptian intelligence officials have visited Ramallah and Tel Aviv in recent days as part of those efforts.
