Starting this Wednesday, the City's
ticket
cameras will begin to record violations and actions by drivers
inside the vehicles.
Thanks to technology, the aim is to focus on behaviors that have become key in road safety campaigns.
But until now they could only be punished if a traffic officer detected them from the street.
Throughout the City there are 215 cameras.
Of these, 100 have the necessary technology to record the
use of cell phones and the lack of use of seat belts when driving
, in addition to
turns in improper places
.
So far, these three faults
were made by traffic agents.
And they add to two others that are already controlled with cameras:
speeding and crossing red lights.
The objective of the Government of Buenos Aires is that the photographs provide
irrefutable evidence
;
As said, until now these violations were prepared by traffic agents.
And at the same time doubts and questions arise about
what can and cannot be done inside the car.
Regarding the location of the cameras, they are identified with signage and are also displayed in mobility applications such as Waze or Google Maps.
The location criteria are analyzed according to the type of conduct to be inspected: for example, for the cameras that detect red crossings, the
most dangerous intersections,
with the greatest pedestrian risk and with the greatest circulation, such as transfer centers, are identified.
While those that register speeding are
located mostly on Buenos Aires highways
and on the main avenues, such as Libertador, Figueroa Alcorta, Córdoba, Cabildo, General Paz, Gaona, Eva Perón, Elcano, among others.
