The measure has not yet been approved, but it is already arousing strong opposition.
The city of Grenoble, through its mayor, Éric Piolle (EELV), announced a few days ago its desire to increase the property tax in its municipality by 25% in 2023.
“It is a political choice and a necessity to help protect the public service and to absorb inflation on energy”
, he declared to

on Tuesday, the day after a restless municipal council, during which the question was fiercely debated.
This increase, which is in addition to the mechanical increase of 7.1% implemented by the State in all municipalities, should generate 44 million euros in additional revenue for the city.
They will be allocated in part to compensating for the rise in costs linked to inflation and to investment in the field of urban renewal.
Eleven million euros will also be devoted to the creation of a
“social and climate shield”
