“Escape from the Edge of Azrael” is a new novel by writer Abeer Nader that monitors the various transformations of society in dealing with women and their ability to be patient and confront, especially what was caused by the terrorist war on Syria.
In Nader's novel, the heroine Sawsan's role is evident in most of the novel's chapters and her energies for steadfastness, dialogue and confrontation, so she identifies with all the women of society and appears at the fore.
After Sawsan's arrival, through the events of the novel, to the hospital, the writer shows the woman's ability to attend and deal with those who visit her generously, during the flight of the soul after her assassination at the hands of terrorists to decorate the surrounding space.
For the first time, the heroine of the novel faces the state of coexistence with the injured and sick in the hospital, and different social situations emerge from living in the environment in peace, after her bed was adjacent to those who were next to her in the hospital environment.
Through the conversation of Sawsan's soul with the souls of those coming to this room and the exit of most of them, we learn the stories of war and the stories of women and what happened to them. Sawsan tries to escape to remember the previous past, which makes the reader confused about the spiritual, temporal and spatial link between Sawsan and her friend, Fatna, the protagonist of the novel.
The novelist Nader puts forward the idea of exchanging roles through Sawsan, who sometimes assumes the role of the oppressor and sometimes the role of the oppressed, so the murderer gets lost in the crowd of what is happening, leaving the novel in an open event and a confusing conclusion.
The novel published by Dar Akl for Publishing, Studies and Translation appears in a new style that combines originality and modernity, and relies on imagination and reality, and the author's ability to present the impossibly easy structure of the artistic novel.
